MLS ALL STAR TEAM

Voting is now open for the MLS All-Stars at : MLSnet.com
The MLS All-Stars will match up against Everton of the Premier League on July 29th. Might not be the most exciting opponent but All Star games are usually fun because you get to see guys like Landon Donovan and Chuatemoc Blanco on the same team.
If I got the opportunity to pick the All-Star team, this is what it would look like:
Kasey Keller (Seattle)
Conde (Chicago) Olave (RSL) Hurtado (Seattle)
Osvaldo Alonso (Seattle) Shalrie Joseph (NE)
Amado Guevara (Toronto)
Landon Donovan (LA) Blanco (Chicago)
Brian McBride (Chicago) Schelotto (Columbus)
There are definitely many deserving players and you can probably see my Latin American bias in these selections. Let me know who you think should be on the All-Star team.

Zach Thornton, no doubt. I’ll admit that Keller has played well, but Thornton has seen almost twice the shots and racked up 6 shut outs in 9 games. Keller gets all the publicity because of who he is and who he’s playing for.

Zach Thornton has been a monster and no one would question his name on any best 11 team. But for my money, Keller is the best goalie in the league hands down. I think notable mention should also go to Kevin Hartman and Pat Onstad.

Isn’t it funny how it has only been a couple of years since Thornton was a washed up Rapids keeper, and now he’s a mention for the MLS Best 11? Interesting.

Yeah, if Thornton keeps it up he might be the comeback player of the year.
