CONOR CASEY CALLED TO THE NATIONAL TEAM

conorcaseyusa

Bob Bradley has called Colorado Rapids striker, Conor Casey, to the national team.  The players in camp will gather on February 10th at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.  This camp will be in preparation for the US’s friendly against El Salvador on February 24th.   This is one of the last opportunites for players to impress before the final roster is picked in May.

Conor Casey is looking more and more like the US’s best option in the target forward role.  Casey size and strength make him an asset to the national team.  He is deceptively skillful for a striker his size and I think that my the key to getting him on the final roster.  Brian Ching has been called into this camp as well and he is probably in direct competition with Casey for a roster spot.

Casey has 19 caps with the national team and 2 goals.  After the El Salvador match, the US will gather in Amsterdam for a friendly against 3rd ranked Netherlands on March 3rd.  With so many injuries to national team regulars (Dempsey, Onyewu, Davies, and Ricardo Clark) some of the MLS guys might get a chance against the Netherlands.

Here is the full roster:

This should be a good camp with better quality than the Jan USMNT camp. It would be nice to put together a strong showing against El Salvador to get some momentum going. Here’s hoping Connor can recover the magic he showed last year.
