RAPIDS ACQUIRE QUINCY AMARIKWA

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Wednesday, April 7, 2010) – The Colorado Rapids have acquired forward Quincy Amarikwa in a trade with the San Jose Earthquakes, the club announced today.
In exchange, Colorado send their natural second round 2012 Major League Soccer SuperDraft pick to San Jose.
In other roster moves, the Rapids placed midfielder Ciaran O’Brien (left hip sprain) and forward Ross Schunk (torn anterior cruciate ligament in right knee) on Injured Reserve.
Amarikwa comes to Colorado having scored one goal and adding two assists in 25 appearances with San Jose. A quick player with an ability to unbalance defenses, the second-year forward played seven minutes in the Earthquakes’ 2010 season opener against Real Salt Lake.
