2019 US OPEN CUP ROUND 2 FC Denver vs Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC

2019 US OPEN CUP ROUND 2 FC Denver vs Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC

For them, its another game.

For us, it’s what we play for.

For them, their paid players represent their club

For us, our Denver-based players work days jobs (from Animal Hospital Tech, to Sales, to Construction) to pay for the opportunity to represent our club, city, and state.

For them, they have a host of skillful players.

For us, we are a family and believe that we are stronger together than our individual parts

To them, they purchased a professional franchise and qualify for the United States grandest Soccer Tournament automatically, year in and year out.

For us, we went through the gauntlet of competitors, going 5-0 in single elimination matches. We bested all Colorado amateur competitors (Rounds 1-3) and then went to Texas twice to beat teams generally thought to be higher ranked/regarded than us.

To them, it’s an opportunity to get a win and/or get playing time to non-starters.

To us, it’s our opportunity to show the nation our very best.

We’ve been working to get back to this exact spot for the last 12 months, since we left Weidner field in defeat in USOC 2018 Round 2 in May 2018. We began this qualifying journey way back in September of 2018, 9 months ago.

As you can surmise, this match means a whole lot to one of the sides that’ll take the field Wednesday. We hope you’ll be there or be able to watch online in support.
